BEYOND THE KRAYS

In 1963, I was interviewed by the notorious Kray twins – Ronnie and Reggie – for a role as their public relations representative. That was like being invited to give an acceptable image to Jack the Ripper. The Krays were acquaintances of my father and lived just down the road to us in London's East End. At the time I was a Fleet Street reporter and I was keen to work with them on their autobiography. The book gig instead went to Fred Dineage of 'How?' TV fame. A couple of years later the twins were arrested and locked away for 30 years. I have used these true facts as the foundation for a novel about the battle to take over the Krays' crime empire, a riveting read that has more twists and turns than a rabbit warren. Perfect holiday or train journey reading. Available now as an eBook for just £3.99

SPURS '67

SPURS '67 takes us back 50 years to one of the most eventful seasons forTottenham as they set out to complete the hat-trick of FA Cup Final victories in the Swinging Sixties. Waiting for them at Wembley are Tommy Docherty's elegant but unpredicatable Chelsea team. It is the first ever 'Cockney Cup Final'.

This is my personal memory of the season, mixed and shaken with the recollections of the players and managers, and stirred with the eyewitness reports of spectators who were there. The result, an exciting cocktail of a book for any football fan who enjoys stories about the Golden Age of the English game.
Hour by hour, July 30 captured as never before. I spent the day with the England team, watching them win and then celebrate their historic 1966 World Cup triumph. I was the only football writer to get into the winning dressing-room ... until quickly removed by Alf Ramsey! My journey starts at breakfast time with Bobby Moore and ends in the Playboy club ... with Bobby Moore. It is the ultimate 'I was there ...' adventure. And I hopefully make YOU feel as if you were there. Order now, direct from me, £14.99 post-free

BOBBY MOORE, THE MASTER

In association with the Bobby Moore Fund, I have written an in-depth study of the life and times of arguably England's greatest ever defender. The book is being published to mark the 20th anniversary of Bobby's passing and the setting up of the fund.

It is not only a book about Bobby but captures the golden era of English football in which he was the golden hero. For the first time, every one of the 108 England matches in which he played are summarised with Bobby's exclusive comments on each of them.

Any profits from the sales of the book will not go into the pockets of the Publisher (me) but to the Bobby Moore Fund to help raise cancer research money.

THE ALI FILES

Published in April 2015 by Pitch Publishing © Norman Giller 2015
This book is for Aliphiles. There have been millions of words written about The Greatest, but few authors have concentrated purely on Ali the boxer, his 61 fights and his 54 opponents. In THE ALI FILES I focus on each of his fights, giving you a ringside seat to the greatest boxing career of them all.

You can order an electronic version here. The book gives the facts behind the Ali fable. I will send a personal email to everybody who buys the book direct from here, and I will willingly answer any questions you have about Ali – simply The Greatest. If you like your boxing, you'll love THE ALI FILES.

BILL NICHOLSON REVISTED

THIS is a personal memoir of Bill Nicholson, a man and manager I was privileged to interview scores of times, and is based on the many conversations I had with him over a span of more than 40 years. My memories are boosted by an army of his old team-mates, players and fellow managers giving their eyewitness view of the achievements of one of the all-time great football philosophers and generals.

And to make it extra special, I have invited the people who mattered most to him – the Spurs supporters – to join in what is an unashamed tribute to the most loyal and influential servant in Tottenham’s history. It is important that the young generation of  Spurs fans appreciate the debt the club owes to a man who devoted his life to Tottenham Hotspur.

HEADLINES, DEADLINES, ALL MY LIFE

My 100th book is a journey through my life and times from the bomb-blitzed East End, and my adventures as a world-travelling sports reporter, television scriptwriter (attached to the This Is Your Life team for 14 years) and a publicist and ghostwriter working with doz-ens of celebrities including Eric Morecambe, Muhammad Ali, Sean Connery, Henry Cooper, and Tottenham legends Bill Nicholson and Danny Blanchflower. I also have ta-les of the unexpected to share about the Kray Twins and Jimmy Savile.

My mate Ricky Tomlinson has written the introduction, and there are harrowing and amusing memories of my 20 books in harness with the one and only Jimmy Greaves. I look forward to hearing from you.

BILLY WRIGHT MY DAD, A HERO FOR ALL SEASONS

Vicky Wright's from-the-heart tribute to her father Billy, hero of Wolves and England who was the first footballer in the world to win 100 international caps.

Written in harness with renowned sports historian Norman Giller, the book gives a report and Billy's comments on every one of his matches for England, and captures an era when it seemed the game was being played on another planet. Billy never earned more than £20 a week and there was not a foreign footballer in sight.

There is also the romantic background to Billy's love affair with singer Joy Beverley – Posh and Becks in black and white. Vicky is the product of their love.
